MLB Tigers vs Blue Jays same game parlay today 7/29 (+300) | Pickswise

There’s no denying that the Blue Jays haven’t always dominated games they should. They’ve been upset by teams depleted due to vaccination restrictions up in Canada. However, they were also recently on a 7-game winning streak. That put them in a solid position for an AL wildcard spot. The same cannot be said for the Tigers. They’re simply battling to stay out of last place in the weak AL Central. With the trade deadline looming, this may be 1 of their last games with their current roster construction. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our thoughts on the side and total for all of today’s games.

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

There have been times where the massive underdog has value against the Blue Jays this season. However, this is not one of those situations. There are several reasons as to why, beginning with their ace Alek Manoah starting this game. Although he didn’t get the start in the All-Star Game, Manoah greatly outperformed the Rays’ Shane McClanahan. Manoah struck out the side in his inning on the mound, all while being mic’d up and talking to the broadcast crew. There won’t be any distractions this time around as he takes on the league’s lowest-scoring lineup.

While the Tigers haven’t been quite as bad since the start of the year, they still don’t have nearly as many strong bats as the Jays. As if George Springer being the 1st batter faced isn’t scary enough, the power of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. behind him is arguably even worse. That duo alone should have Detroit’s Bryan Garcia in for a long night. That’s likely an unfamiliar name, as he’s making his 1st appearance of the season tonight. He’s also a reliever, which makes this matchup even more beneficial for Toronto. With all-star starter Alejandro Kirk rounding out the top 3 hitters, Garcia is not put in a great position to succeed in his 2022 debut.

This play is simply an extension of the aforementioned matchup between the deep Blue Jays and the Tigers’ Bryan Garcia. Not only is he a usual reliever, he’s obviously not in midseason form. He’s been in Detroit for 3 seasons and has never made a start. This very well may be in preparation for the trade deadline, as the Tigers have stated they are willing to trade lefty Tarik Skubal. Regardless, the Jays’ lineup has the bats to hit this total against nearly any pitcher, especially at home.

Rogers Centre in Toronto ranks 5th for both extra-base hits and overall runs, and 10th for home runs. Springer continues to inch closer to the record for leadoff home runs, and Vladdy is already more notorious than his dad for the long ball. Kirk has been arguably the best catcher in the American League, and Bo Bichette has the 6th-most hits in the AL. With Teoscar Hernandez remaining healthy, the top 5 hitters in their lineup could get this total themselves.

With so many great hitters to target in the Jays’ lineup, there are plenty of options for this prop. We’re going to go with Hernandez to have a bounce-back game tonight. He was the only 1 of the big 5 bats already mentioned that didn’t record a hit last night. However, that should not cause any trepidation. He entered this season with the possibility of rivaling teammate Guerrero Jr. in this category, who led the entire league last season. Despite missing some time, he still recorded 288 total bases in 143 games in 2021.

That’s worth mentioning as he’s in a similar situation this season. His raw value of 138 total bases may not be among the league leaders, but he missed time earlier this season as well. He’s reached that mark in just 75 games. That’s a better per-game average than even Shohei Ohtani. Hernandez also hit this prop in 4 straight games prior to the last 2 slow nights. With a great balance of 19 doubles, 13 home runs, and a triple, he can start a new streak tonight.
